The HopeRoad Prize for Postcolonial Studies

The HopeRoad Prize for Postcolonial Studies is awarded to final year BA English undergraduates by their lecturers who nominate the student (or students) who have produced the best quality work in postcolonial literary studies at final exam boards.  The prize, consisting of £50 worth of books from the HopeRoad catalogue, will be shared between two graduating students in English whose work demonstrates ‘originality and rigour in the field of postcolonial literary studies’. Once the successful student (or students, if the prize is shared) have been notified of their award, they must contact HopeRoad with their choice of books.

“The HopeRoad Prize for Postcolonial Literary Studies is a wonderful opportunity for our students.  Being awarded this prize has supported a number of our students to secure funding for highly competitive postgraduate studentships since it is recognition of their exceptional talent in this field.  The recipients also benefit from being able to choose from a catalogue of books by important contemporary writers. This way, they have the opportunity to read new work by writers with African or Caribbean heritage, some of whom they may not have encountered while at university. We hope to continue our relationship with HopeRoad for many years.”
Dr Jenni Ramone, Senior Lecturer in Postcolonial Studies, Nottingham Trent University
